After the hosts took an early 1-0 lead, the Palace equalised in the 33rd minute, courtesy of Jeffrey Schlupp's strike.
City head the ball clear before it fell out of the air and went to Palace midfielder Andros Townsend to control of the ball. He then from 30 yards away from the goal shot a venomous volley from the edge of the box straight into the top corner to put Palace 2-1 up at half-time.
Palace captain Luka Milivojevic made it 3-1 from the penalty spot after Kyle Walker's foul on Max Meyer, before substitute Kevin de Bruyne scored a late consolation for the hosts.
This was the Eagles' first win at City since 1990 and lifted them six points clear of the relegation zone.
