Takalevasti murder: Senior citizen was killed for not allowing alcohol

The police have arrested a 24-year-old man for murdering a 61-year-old woman in a cold-blooded manner by smashing a rock on her head in Takalevasti in Manjri village on December 10.

Harubai Ghule was murdered because she opposed two persons from consuming alcohol in her farms. 

The arrested person has been identified as Mauli Pandharinath Jambare (24) while his associate is still at large.

Senior police inspector Raghunath Jadhav of Hadapsar police station said, “Mauli and his associates were consuming alcohol at Harubai’s farms a few days ago. She had opposed them and also told them that she would inform the police about it.”  

To avenge the act, Mauli and his associates hatched a plan to murder Harubai. Accordingly, they sent a minor to Harubai’s house to convey the message that a cow is grazing on her crops.”

Jadhav said, “As soon as Harubai came to the farms, Mauli and his associate smashed a rock on her head. They then tied her hands and legs and disappeared from the spot. The incident came to light when Harubai’s husband came to see her in the farm one-and-half hour later.”
