SBI alert! State Bank of India warns customers against doing this to avoid fraud

Customers must note these points to keep their money safe from fraudsters.

As more and more people use the internet to manage their money, banks have also prioritised the safety of their customers. The State Bank of India (SBI) has also reminded its customers time and again from the fraudsters, who trick them into making a mistake and then siphon off their hard-earned money.

India's largest public lender recently took to Twitter and advised its customers to refrain from sharing any sensitive details online or offline. It has also advised against downloading any mobile app from an unknown source. 

Customers must also beware of the fraudsters pretending to be calling from SBI, RBI, government offices, police, KYC authority to keep their money safe.

"We advise our customers to be alert of fraudsters and not to share any sensitive details online or download any app from an unknown source," the bank said in a Twitter post.

It listed pointers for the customers to follow so that they are not duped. The list includes:

1) One must not share your credentials like date of birth, debit card number, internet banking ID/ password, debit card pin, OTP and other personal details

2) One must be beware of the fraudsters pretending to be calling from SBI, RBI, government offices, police, KYC authority

3) An SBI customer must not download any mobile app based on telephone calls/ emails from any unknown source

4) On must not respond to unsolicited attractive offers received through emails, SMS and other social media

Customers must keep it in mind that banks any of its representative never sends any email/SMS or calls you over the phone to get your personal information, password or one-time password (OTP). Such calls/SMS are an attempt to fraudulently withdraw money from your account.
