7th Pay Commission: Lakhs of Central government employees are eagerly waiting for the DA hike as the Narendra Modi led-government has announced an increase in variable dearness allowance (VDA). The dearness hike ranges from Rs 105 to Rs 210 per month. Alongside, the Centre has also given good news on Travelling Allowance as well.

The government has extended the deadlines for submitting Travelling Allowance (TA) claims on retirement from 60 days to 180 days.

However, it may be noted that the deadline for submission of TA claims on tour, transfer and training will remain 60 days.

These orders have come into effect from June 15.

According to an Office Memorandum, which was released by the Ministry of Finance, “several references have been received in this Department regarding extension of time-limit for submission of TA claims in r/o journeys performed by retired employees and their families for going to Home town/place of settlement after retirement as difficulties are being faced by the retired Govt. officials while claiming reimbursement of TA on retirement within a period of sixty days of completion of their journey.”

"The matter has been considered in this Department and in partial modification of this Department’s OM of even number dated 13.03.2018, it has been decided that the time-limit for submission of claims for TA on Retirement is modified from 60 days to 180 days (six months), succeeding the date of completion of the journey," the OM further read.

On the other hand, Central government employees are all set to receive Dearness Allowance (DA) benefits approved under the 7th Pay Commission from July 1, 2021. The government recently confirmed in the parliament about the rollout of stalled dearness allowance (DA) and dearness relief (DR) from next month, as per a Zee News report.

How to calculate salary after DA hike?

In the 7th Pay Commission, the salary of a central government employee consists of three components: basic salary, allowances and deductibles. At present, the minimum salary according to the pay matrix of central employees is Rs 18,000.

In this, 15 percent dearness allowance is expected to be added which means that Rs 2700 per month will be directly added to the salary and Rs 32400 will be added annually as DA.
