The UPA will have to work on a consensus candidate in light of the TMC-SP proposing the PM as one of their choices for President, NCP leader Sharad Pawar said on Wednesday.

NCP President Sharad Pawar on Wednesday said that parties in the UPA should discusss and evolve a consensus on the Presidential candidate in the light of TMC and SP coming out with Prime Minister Manmohan Singh as among their choices for the high post.
"In the light of new developments, we will have to talk to all concerned (in the UPA) in the light of the TMC-SP decision and try to bring a consensus on the Presidential choice," he told reporters.
Pawar was reacting to the decision of West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee and SP leader Mulayam Singh Yadav announcing the names of Singh, former President A P J Abdul Kalam and former Speaker Somnath Chatterjee as their candidates, on one of whom political parties can evolve a consensus.
