The water pipeline under the Marine Drive footpath burst again on Thursday, exactly a week after suffering the same fate, and had undergone repairs which got over only two days ago.

The rutpure will add to the woes of the civic A Ward, which consists of Churchgate, Fort, Colaba, Cuffe Parade and Marine Drive. Over the past one month, the residents have consistently been facing water cuts after a dismal monsoon.

Right after the problem of irregular water supply was attended to, the major pipeline at Queen's Necklace had burst on the morning of October 18, due to which residents had to endure acute water shortage.

The pipeline, 24 inches in diameter, supplies water to the whole ward.

A week later, on Thursday morning, officials of the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation once again stopped the supply of water and barricaded the area.

The issue was resolved for some time, but the maintenance work was to be taken up later, at night, so some parts were to get affected.

The residents of Colaba, Fort and Churchgate are continually facing water cuts and irregular water supply due to many issues.

On Monday, residents took out a morcha to the A Ward Office to protest the crunch.

Earlier, parts of south Mumbai had faced acute shortage due to repairs work of Powai and Veravali pipelines. Incidents of leakage due to ongoing Metro works are just piling on to the area's water woes.
