Stating that Raj Thackeray's rallies would not yield much for the Opposition, Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis said that these rallies in fact, have exposed the Congress and the Nationalist Congress Party (NCP). Fadnavis pointed out that since Raj Thackeray and the Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS) reached nowhere after the 2014 Modi wave, it joined hands with the Opposition and they may also join hands with the Congress and the NCP for the 2019 Assembly elections.

Replying to questions on Raj Thackeray and allegations he made during an interview to a group of journalists, Fadnavis said that the Bharatiya Janata Party has never really responded much to Thackeray's allegations. He said that his public rallies are neither going to garner votes for the Opposition nor going to change the fortune of any seat. Thus, the BJP does not retaliate to his allegations.

Replying to a question, Fadnavis said, "Thackeray has been making false allegations right from the first meeting and has been exposed after every meeting. He alleged that National Security Adviser Ajit Doval met Pakistan NSA, but later he realised that this incident was an old incident and he did not repeat that allegation. Same is the case with his so-called exposure of digital village Harisal. The BJP did reply to some of his allegations as if we do not respond at all, people may take his lies as facts. As far as Harisal village is concerned, the village Sarpanch has gone live on Facebook live from various parts of the village. The boy whom he brought on stage does not belong to that village; this was confirmed by the Sarpanch during his live session. Thackeray's rallies have exposed both the Congress and the NCP.'

Stating that if the BJP would have retaliated, Fadnavis said, "there are at least fifty videos of Raj Thackeray which would expose him completely, but since his rallies are not damaging us, we would not opt for that way. On our behalf, people are answering him through social media.'

Fadnavis said that Raj Thackeray has planned his public rallies in such a way that if the Opposition candidate wins he would get credit and if the person loses, Thackeray would say that despite all his efforts, the candidate lost.

Replying to a question as to why Raj Thackeray, who once praised development in Gujarat has gone to another extreme, Fadnavis said, "it was the Modi wave in 2014, which literally destroyed Thackeray's party. He could have managed to win one Assembly seat and lost Nashik Kalyan-Dombivli, Pune, and Thane municipal corporations, where his party was the deciding factor in the previous election. He understood that when Shiv Sena is there, he has no scope for any alliance with the BJP and that is the reason he has gone to the other extreme."
