The Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation's (BMC) Solid Waste Management (SWM) will soon issue a circular to all ward offices to start a Twitter handle to get in touch with residents in their respective areas to solve waste-related issues. The proposal was also sent to the municipal commissioner.
Currently, the SWM department operates a Twitter account through which it informs people about the civic body's initiatives. However, it found that several issues waste issues can be resolved at the ward level if they have a Twitter account.
"We have already prepared a detailed plan that will be sent to all wards after getting permission from the civic chief. The initiative will make civic body's presence in the social media," a SWM official told DNA.
