A day after former Solapur MLA Dilip Mane of the Congress filed his nomination papers for a bypoll to the Legislative Council to be held on December 7, an FIR was registered against him and five others on Tuesday for rape, black-mailing and threatening. The bypoll is being held for the seat left vacant after Narayan Rane resigned to form his own party.
Mane, however, has refuted all the allegations by saying that the case slapped against him is politically motivated, adding that he has never met the complainant. Speaking to DNA, Mane alleged, “This woman is a blackmailer and she has approached the police six months ago. They did not take cognizance, which is why she approached a court. I will sue her for defamation.”
According to the FIR, Mane and five others had threatened the woman that they would post her photographs on social media and had demanded Rs 2 crore from her.
The FIR has been filed at Fauzdar Chawdi Police Station in Solapur. Mane, who is pitted against Prasad Lad of the BJP for the legislative council by-elections to be held on December 7, was Congress MLA from North Solapur between 2009 and 2014.
According to the police, the FIR has been registered against Mane, 52, Nikhil Netaji Bhosale, 30, a resident of Hotgi Road, Tripti Nikhil Bhosale, 30, Vedmati Nikhil Bhosale, 48, and Dhananjay Bhosale, 45, a resident of Twin Solapur.
According to the FIR, Nikhil Bhosale, Mane’s nephew, contacted the concerned woman via a social matrimonial site and married her at Tuljapur. He had sex with the woman in a room near the Solapur High way and clicked nude photographs of her. According to the FIR, he then blackmailed her by using these photos and forced her to have physical relationship with Dilip Mane.
After demanding Rs 2 crore, her Mangalsutra of six tolas was allegedly robbed from her and her photographs were put on WhatsApp groups in Mumbai and Solapur. She was attacked by throwing acid at her and she was threatened with dire consequences, according to the FIR.
