Contrary to the Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) office forecast of the possibility of heavy rains in one or two places in city and suburbs, Mumbai experienced a dry spell through the day on Monday, a day after the IMD confirmed the arrival of monsoon. The Colaba and Santa Cruz weather station  on Sunday recorded 31mm and 33.02mm rainfall respectively.

“Though both weather stations did not record any rainfall, it was cloudy through the day, indicating the occurrence of rains in the coming days given the favourable conditions,” said IMD director VK Rajeev.

While the minimum temperatures recorded at both the stations were normal, the minimum temperature on Monday dipped to 25.1 at Colaba and 24.2 at Santa Cruz, with the humidity levels hovering at moderate levels between 75 and 83 in the evening. The IMD has forecast occasional rains in parts of city and suburbs in the next 24 hours.
