Mumbai Dabbawalas have announced they will be on a one-day strike on October 3, and will stage a protest outside the Chief Minister’s residence, Varsha, in Malabar Hill, due to not getting an appointment with him to resolve the issue. Earlier, on September 17, the dabbawalas alleged they were cheated by a man who was the administrator for their website — mumbaidabbawala.in, and suffered financial loss of around Rs 1 crore over a period of one year.

Due to inaction regarding the handlers by the police officers, the dabbawala community wants the CM to look into the matter.

Subhash Talekar, spokesperson for Mumbai Dabbawala Association, said, “We are trying to meet the CM Devendra Fadnavis, but haven’t got a chance. On October 3, we hope to meet him to get a speedy investigation.”
Police say  they are still scrutinizing the account details and tracing money trails.

In 2011, as well, Mumbai dabbawals had been cheated in a similar manner the criminal brought to justice.
