With the festival season set to begin, devotees can look forward to multiple events across the city and plan their celebratory schedules accordingly. Organisers are not just looking to welcome them with open arms but some also plan on changing the look of mandals on a daily basis.

The GSB's "Dahisar Dussehra" which is celebrating 10 years of their festival will ensure that the goddess's look will be changed every day.

"On the first day, it will be Saraswati Devi followed by Annapoorna Devi. In case of Annapoorna Devi, the place will be decorated with vegetables which will be used for bhog," said Vinod Prabhu, joint secretary of the GSB group.

Every night, members will work to change the look of the Devi while the idol will be the same. "When it is the day of Kali Mata, we will put colour and then change it again," added Prabhu.

Other incarnations that devotees can see will be Vaishno Devi on Saturday, Durgaparameshwari Devi on Sunday, Chamundeshwari, Shantadurga Devi , Chandika Devi, Mahakali Devi, Mahalaxmi Devi and Sharada Devi on each of the following days.

The Powai Bengali Welfare Association, which conducts Durga Puja in Powai plans to have a "Pagoda" theme for the mandal. "Every year, we decorate the idol with a saree made of cloth. However, this year, the saree on the idol will be made of mud," said Sourav Mitra, chairman of PBWA.

The group plans to serve bhog to 15,000 people daily, have a havan for the well-being of the city and will also light diyas.

At Shivaji Park, the celebration of Durga Puja will complete 82 years this year. "This year there is no theme. The Puja will be done keeping in mind with the traditions of West Bengal," said Mitali Choudhury, spokesperson for Shivaji Park's Bengal Club that organises the Puja.

"This year, the architecture of temples across the country will be our theme and it will be on display in the mandal," said Shankar Moitra, joint secretary of Nautan Palli Sabojonim Durga Utsav that is held opposite National Park.
