A slap on Sharad Pawar's moral rectitude: Prashant Bhushan

Eminent Supreme Court lawyer and Team Anna member Prashant Bhushan slammed Union agriculture minister Sharad Pawar for inaccurate disclosure of assets on the prime minister’s website.

“Although there are no legal implications of inaccurate asset disclosure, it is a slap on Pawar’s moral rectitude,” he said.
Bhushan was reacting to the DNA Investigation report on Wednesday about inaccurate assets disclosure by Pawar (Pawar fooled all with Rs12 cr assets disclosure).

The report had pointed out that no company exists with the name of Panchil Hotels Pvt Ltd as stated by the minister in his declaration and also highlighted the lower declaration of shares held by the Pawars in Panchshil Hotels Pvt. Ltd.

Bhushan pointed out that the declaration of assets by ministers is part of their moral responsibility and is not compulsory under the law. He also stated that such disclosures are meant to set an example of good character on the part of the ministers.The inaccurate disclosures just show that Pawar is untruthful, he said.

Speaking to DNA, former justice of Bombay high court, BG Kolse Patil congratulated the newspaper for the expose and said that the inaccurate disclosure by Pawar should draw the attention of those who claim to ride the moral high horse.
