A boy in Britain, who set up a birthday party invite on Facebook, was left stunned when more than 21,000 people responded to it.

The boy had meant to invite only a few of his close friends to his 14th birthday in October at the modest flat he lives, reports the Daily Express.

When the 21,000 signed up, which is more than the population of Harpenden, Herts, where he lives, his mother had to remove a Facebook group bearing her address and phone number.

The police have stepped in and warned guests to stay away from the party, which has now been cancelled, and they have also promised to step up patrols in case thousands descend on the town.
