With just a week to go for Christmas, designer Sneha Satyaprakash lists out a few looks that will rock this time around.

With Christmas here and the party scene hotting up, what could be best done with the seasonal colours?
Since time immemorial, red and green have always known to be colours of the season. It says loud and clear that Christmas is here. But when it comes to dressing up in these colours, the key is to keep one’s body in mind, whilst still working on the holiday theme.

A lot of women want to experiment yet stick to traditions. How is that possible?
There’s no denying that Christmas is all about traditions. Let me state a personal instance here and how I made a statement for myself. My mother gifted me a pair of earrings 23 years ago and I have been wearing them every Christmas since then. It’s the most unique piece that I have collected — the screw is the wreath while the bow makes for the front.

Would you list out a few looks that could be tried out for the season?
There are a lot of looks to be tried out for the year end and especially Christmas. One would be the classic, simple and sophisticated one that sets the mood for the holidays. For instance, try a red velvet shift dress, a pair of Jimmy Choo Gold Lance mirrored stilettos, a Bottega Green Knot clutch and keep your hair tied loosely up. This is a look that can be flaunted from an elegant traditional Christmas dinner to a fashionable party post that.

Or if it’s a sultry look one wants to flaunt for the evening, try a green mini dress with red pumps, a red clutch, large chandelier earrings with straight shiny hair. Just stand under the mistletoe and watch eyes turn but if you’ve had way too many mince pies, this one’s not for you.

For an ethnic and vibrant look, mix and match a sari and blouse. You can try teaming a green chiffon sari with a beautiful rich red brocade blouse, adding an Indian touch to the Christmas spirit.

Think differently for a fun and funky look with a flowing, red maxi, a pair of green Christmassy earrings, large bauble bangles, soft curls and to top it, a Santa hat. It’s really amazing to see how of much fun lies in that magical hat. But for this look, be sure not to overdo the accessories so as not to end up being mistaken for the Christmas tree!

And finally, if you’re all set to make a bold and a little crazy statement, get yourself an elf costume. It exudes the colours red and green from head to toe. There couldn’t be a better way to dive into the Christmas spirit than this one.
