Thousands of bike-borne youths, cars and pedestrians kept Jaipur streets busy on Sunday as Independent MLA Hanuman Beniwal took out a massive road show. The road show taken out under the banner of ‘Kisan Hunkar Maharally’ was a preview of mega farmer meet to he held on October 29 at Mansarovar area in Jaipur. It is at the farmers’ meet that Beniwal is likely to announce his new party in the presence of an expected gathering of more than 10 lakh people. 

“Today’s road show is just a trailer and you will get to see the entire show on Monday,” said Beniwal while addressing the gathering on Sunday. He added, “My new party will have both BJP and Congress retire from politics.” 

Earlier in the day, the road show commenced from Mansarovar and covered nearly 15 kms before concluding at Sehkar Marg where a meeting was also held. As thousands of supporters marched along Beniwal’s cavalcade, while several more were stationed at various locations to welcome him en route.    

MLA from Khinvsar constituency of Nagaur, Benwial has been pitching to garner farmer support from across the state. The road show in  Jaipur has come after a series of such rallies and public meetings held across several districts where Beniwal targeted both the BJP and Congress, but never divulged anything about forming his own party. It was only on Saturday that he unveiled plans of the same. His party is expected to alter the equations in Rajasthan. However, he concedes that only Congress is his competition. “BJP is set to lose the elections and it is Congress that we actually need to contest with, but they too will be defeated,” Beniwal said. 

The independent MLA has an image of a firebrand farmer leader. A large number of his supporters are youths from farmer families across several districts of western Rajasthan.
