People throng to markets and public domain in huge numbers in the festival season. “It has been seen that due to the onset of wedding season coupled with various festivals also falling around this time, people throng market places, gardens, eateries, bus and railway stations in huge numbers. This is also a time when terrorist activity can also take place. To negate any ill occurance, the state police sounds a general alert. Special orders are given to district police to keep an eye out and take various measures to avoid and negate any miscreant from reaching his goal,” highly placed sources in the police department informed. Interestingly, with a history of SIMI modules being burst in the state and sharing its border with Pakistan, handling of law and order in festivities is trying for the state police.
“With the past experience we have to be ever ready for any such activity. The intelligence wing of the state police along with the anti terrorism wing keep vigil on major activity. The district police have been instructed to take suitable actions in this regard. Thus, additional personnel have already been deployed in probable areas. Moreover, officials in civil dress have also been posted who keep eye out on people. At various places the CCTV proves a huge help and the recent installation of Abhay Command Center is a major deterrent to criminal activities,” sources said. Coupled with the intelligence inputs from central intelligence agencies, the state police also develops its local leads and takes actions while ensuring safety for the denizens.
