The Special Operations Group (SOG) nabbed an arms smuggler, a member of an inter-state gang, involved in manufacturing and smuggling arms on Thursday. The accused was nabbed with a huge cache of arms which he was going to hand over to various miscreants in the state to trigger law and order unrest prior to the assembly elections.

The SOG is now interrogating the smuggler to find out about the point of origin of the confiscated arms cache and the men to whom the delivery was to be made.

According to the SOG officials, information was being received regularly about arms smuggling being carried out in Dausa area. “Constable Dodiram of SOG had been receiving intelligence that arms smuggling was being carried out around Mahua town of Dausa district. The constable shared the information after developing it further and subsequently, senior officials were tasked to bust the network and arrest the smugglers,” officials said.

While developing further ground intel about the gang involved in smuggling, the SOG team learnt that these arms would be used in criminal activities during upcoming assembly elections and more weapons would be delivered in days to come.

“The officials then identified the gang while also identifying one of the man carrying and distributing the weapons. The man was identified as one Ajit Gurjar (27), native of Pahadi village under Salempur police station of Dausa district. His location was tracked on Thursday and the man was arrested along with a huge cache of arms that was confiscated. Twelve weapons, including seven country-made pistols and five long-barreled guns of high quality were seized from the man and a case has been registered by the SOG in the matter,” officials said.

Sources reveal that the SOG officials are now looking to take further action in the matter by getting more information about the gang and the place where the weapons were being made. Information regarding the men associated with the gang and the trade will also be identified.
