80% brain of victim damaged, serious

The minor girl gang raped by the school director and a teacher in Ajitgarh is in serious condition. She is under medical observation at SMS Hospital in Jaipur and reportedly got Hypoxia (a condition in which the body or a region of the body is deprived of adequate oxygen supply at the tissue level) due to infection spread in her body.

As per doctors treating the girl, she has shown very little recovery but it is not sure that her brain will be recovered completely as it is around 80% damaged due to mental trauma during repeated gang rape followed by a forced Medical Termination Process to clean the foetus.

 After the repeated incidents of gang rape, the girl got pregnant and the accused took her to a private hospital in nearby town Shahpura for abortion. As per the doctors at SMS hospital the victim had an abortion before she was brought to Jaipur, and during the abortion she got severe infection. As she did not get medical treatment on time, the infection reached the brain, as a result the brain stopped functioning. Considering her serious condition, she was referred to SMS Hospital. 

“She has got Hypoxia as infection has spread up to her brain. Her body has started to show response towards treatment but we are not in a condition to say anything certain about her brain recovery,” Dr SS Yadav, spokesperson at SMS Hospital told DNA.

Meanwhile, the Health Minister has directed for free treatment of the girl.
