Senior BJP leader and Rajya Sabha MP Subramanian Swamy on Thursday said that the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) would have got eight more seats if he was allowed to campaign.
The BJP has 104 MLAs in the Karnataka assembly, eight short of the magic figure of 112. On the other hand, the Congress and JD(S), which have already announced post-poll tie-up, have won 78 and 37 seats respectively.
"At least 8 seats in Karnataka was lost by BJP by a margin of less than NOTA. If I had been allowed to campaign in the election this would not have happened," Swamy said in a tweet.

According to the data released by the Election Commission of India, Congress has received 37.9 %, while the BJP, on the other hand, got 36.2 % of the votes. The Janata Dal (S) got 18.5% votes. Interestingly, over three lakh people, accounting for 0.9% votes share opted for None Of The Above (NOTA) option.
Meanwhile, in another tweet, the BJP leader said that PC (Chidambaram) is greatly worried about his friend BSY becoming CM. "Why? because Rotten Tata gave 100 acres to PC in the fertile coffee estate area. Revenue officers of Karnataka are now gleeful," he said.
The Governor Vajubhai Vala has given Yeddyurappa 15 days to prove his majority in the Assembly, a decision which the Congress decried as "murder of democracy".
Meanwhile, Yeddyurappa has said that he is 100% sure of winning the vote of confidence in the assembly and completing the five-year term.
He slammed the Congress-JDS alliance as "unholy" and charged they were out to grab power though the people had "rejected them outright".
"I am sure of winning the vote of confidence and my government completing five years," said Yeddyurappa, who has been given 15-days window by Governor Vajubhai Vala in a controversial decision that has been challenged in the Supreme Court.
Asked how soon he would prove majority, Yeddyurappa said he would do it as soon as possible.
"I am not going to wait till 15 days... I am keen to do it as soon as possible," he said.
