Presenting the report card of his government after six months in office, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on Tuesday said that his government had ended the ‘jungle raj’ of the previous governments to make people feel safe.
CM Adityanath said that the biggest challenge faced by the government was to free the state from the clutches of casteism and nepotism, control crime, launch people and farmer-oriented welfare policies, instil confidence amongst the bureaucracy, and bring state’s economy back on track.
“I am happy that my Cabinet colleagues worked more than 18 hours a day to achieve desired results within six months. We had addressed 34 lakh complaints without any bias or family considerations. This indicates the kind of anarchy previous regimes had spread in Uttar Pradesh,” he pointed.
Adityanath claimed that Uttar Pradesh has topped in the month of August in GST collection across country that shows that the economy is back on track. “When we had taken over, the atmosphere was certainly investor-friendly but through our new industrial policy we aim to speed up growth and generate employment,” he pointed.
Around 6 lakh youth have already been trained under various skill development programmes, he said, adding that the government has already cleared recruitment of 47,000 police men on vacant posts.
The biggest challenge was to control rising crime. “We gave free hand to the police. As a result, 17 hardcore criminals were killed in 431 encounters, 1,106 were arrested and 668 carrying rewards were sent behind bars. During operations, 88 police men were also injured and we lost one sub-inspector. Illegal properties of 69 mafias were seized and encroachment on land worth Rs 3,500 crore was removed in the last six months,” claimed the Chief Minister.
“The land revenue department has done some wonderful job. They are linking Aadhar cards with Khataunis. Once it is done, no one would be able to fudge Khataunis to usurp lands of poor,” he said.
Despite criticism, Adityanath claimed that loan waiver to 84 lakh farmers was the biggest achievement of his government in the last six months. “Record wheat and potato purchase, free tube-well connections, solar pumps, opening of Krshi Vigyan Kendras, timely payment to care farmers etc were some of the measures his government had taken to double their income by 2022 as envisaged by the Prime Minister Naendra Modi,” he added.
