Road blockade demanding shifting of electric poles in Orissa

Vehicular traffic between Berhampur in Ganjam district and Phulabani in Kandhamal district was disrupted for several hours today following a road blockade by several people at Bhanjanagar, about 80 km from here.

The residents of the sub-divisional headquarter town of Bhanjanagar put up road blockade demanding shifting of electric poles from the middle of the road at the by-pass of the town, which caused frequent accidents.
    
The residents of the town agitated, when a 39-year-old man was killed and two others were injured in two mishaps on Friday night.

The agitators lifted the road blockade after several hours, when the power distribution company promised to meet their demands, police said.
