Ratan Tata pays tribute to Tata Group founder Jamsetji Tata on his birth anniversary with throwback photo

The Chairman of the Tata Group, Ratan Tata on Wednesday, paid his tribute to the founder of the company Jamsetji Tata on his birth anniversary.

Ratan Tata also shared an old picture of him standing along with Jehangir Ratanji Dadabhoy Tata in front of the statue of founder Jamsetji Tata in Jamshedpur.

"My best wishes to all the Tata group companies, the employees & their families on the birth anniversary of our founder, Mr. Jamsetji Tata, who has inspired us with his kindness over the years. This founder’s day has special emotions for me, reminding me of my mentor Mr. JRD Tata" he tweeted along with the picture.

Known as the father of Indian industry, Jamsetji Tata founded a private trading firm in 1868 which would set out to be one of the biggest global conglomerate in the world known as the Tata Group. He set up the Tata iron and steel factory, which is the oldes factory in India.   

He was born in 1839 to a Parsi Zoroastrian family in Navsari, then the princely state of Baroda. After graduating from college, he joined his father's trading firm and worked in his father's company till 29 years of age following which he started his own private firm.

He was the first entrepreneur in the country who recognised the effects of the industrial revolution for India. The city of Jamshedpur in Jharkhand is named in honour of Jamsetji.   

Ratan Tata is the great-grandson of the Jamsetji Tata.
