Taking a swipe at Prime Minister Narendra Modi and BJP chief Amit Shah, Congress Vice-President Rahul Gandhi on Tuesday said that the Gujarat government is remote-controlled from Delhi.

The Congress leader made the remarks while addressing a rally in Gujarat.

"These days the Gujarat government is remote-controlled from Delhi. Time has come that the government of Gujarat runs from Gujarat and on the basis of the voices of people," he said.

Rahul also targeted the government for working for the top officials, rather than working for the common people.

Gandhi on Monday began his three-day tour of Gujarat by attacking Prime Minister Narendra Modi on demonetisation, GST and the 'Gujarat model' of development while exuding confidence about winning the upcoming Assembly polls.

"There is a strong undercurrent in favour of Congress in Gujarat. People want change and Congress will definitely come to power this time. People of Gujarat are unhappy with the ruling party as they feel cheated after giving their votes to the BJP," said Gandhi, adding that Congress will help Gujarat develop.

However, the BJP termed it as 'dramatic and laughable', saying his campaign in the poll-bound state will boomerang on the Congress and ensure another victory for the ruling party.

Launching a counteroffensive, the BJP said Gandhi's visit would herald the defeat of his party.

The Congress is out of power in Gujarat for over two decades.
