Policeman, two CRPF jawans martyred in terror attack J&K's Baramulla

A J&K police special police officer (SPO) and two CRPF men have been martyred in a terror attack on security forces in Kreeri area of Baramulla in north Kashmir. ‬

Following the attack, a joint team of security forces cordoned off the area to look for the terrorists while the injured were removed to a nearby hospital for treatment.

Confirming that incident, Inspector General of Police Kashmir range, Vijay Kumar, said, "A Naka party was fired upon by terrorists at Kreeri area of Baramulla. One SPO( JKP) and two CRPF jawans were martyred."

The two soldiers of CRPF were rushed to a nearby hospital for treatment but both succumbed to the injuries.

On Sunday a joint team of forces were fired upon terrorists in orchards of Sopore village.

This is the second big attack on the security forces in the valley in just four days. On the 14th of August, terrorists attacked security forces on the outskirts of Srinagar, killing two policemen and injuring one.

In a related development, a major tragedy was averted on Sunday night after security forces recovered an Improvised Explosive Device (IED) near Tujan village in Pulwama district of Jammu and Kashmir. The IED was planted beneath a bridge.

The timely action by alert security forces has helped in averting a major tragedy as the road connects Pulwama district with Budgam and is often used by security forces for movement.
