In an embarrassing gaffe, the official Twitter handle of Digital India retweeted a post encouraging the mass murder of Kashmiris along with the caption "height of patriotism".
Started in 2014, Digital India is a program launched by Prime Minister Narendra Modi to shape a digitally empowered future of the country.
On Thursday, @_DigitalIndia, promoted a controversial post by a person named Abhay Kumar. The tweet was deleted soon after, but not before people had taken screenshots of the post.

Later, an apology was posted by the concerned person, taking full responsibility for the mistake.

This is not the first time that an official government Twitter handle has goofed up. Earlier in July this year, StartUp India’s Twitter handle was in trouble after it retweeted a couple of hateful tweets. Last week, the All India Radio News Twitter handle was also under fire for mocking Rahul Gandhi.
