The city of Mumbai has received moderate to heavy rainfall today in different parts of the city, in what comes as welcome news for the citizens who took to social media to post updates about the weather.

The Greater Mumbai Municipal Corporation said that the city was likely to receive heavier rainfall in the upcoming days, but posted a tweet with the rain statistics. "Hello, Mumbai! The island city and suburbs have received 33 mm and 95 mm rainfall respectively. While we're on our toes, it may take some time to pump out all water from waterlogged areas owing to neap tide. Hopefully, all should be well by late evening," the tweet said.

 

 

However, work life in the financial capital took a hit as traffic crawled to a slow pace on the roads, with heavy traffic jams reported along the Western Express Highway from Kherwadi, Bandra to Vileparle northbound.

According to reports, the area adjoining Dadar Fire Station received 22 mm of rainfall, while the areas adjoining Wadala and Worli fire stations reported 20 mm and 17 mm of rainfall, respectively.

Waterlogging was reported near the airport, Andheri, Kurla road, and in Juhu, which came with its share of woes as citizens were not able to avail their needs in time.

A humongous queue was spotted at the Dombivli station in Mumbai, for the local trains.

  

 

Local trains on the Central Railway line are said to be running at around 30 minutes late, while Western Railways took to Twitter to inform that there are no disruptions in their services. 

Rainfall was announced in the city on June 25. The heavy rainfall comes three days after the announcement, with its share of wonders and woes.

 

Speaking of long-distance transportation, departures were halted at the airport after visibility went down severely, accompanied by high winds in the morning. 

Traffic near the Bandra Fire Station also took a hit after the region reported 30 mm of rainfall.

A number of traffic routes have been diverted due to the rains. Detailed updates are as follows:

1) Waterlogging reported at Makhmali Talao in Thane:
Route no 494 and 499 are being diverted through the Vandana Talkies Flyover in Thane.

2) Waterlogging reported at Road no 24 in Sion, Mumbai:
Route no 25, 22, 302, 305, and 213 are being diverted through the Main Road.

3) Waterlogging reported at Hindmata Cinema in Dadar East, Mumbai.
Route no 1, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 11, 21, etc are being diverted through the Hindmata Flyover.

4) Buses going to Shivdi are being diverted through Sharda Talkies.
