The DMK on Monday accused the AIADMK government of aiding to saffronise schools by trying to get BJP national general secretary H Raja elected as chief of the Tamil Nadu Bharat Scouts and Guides.

"I condemn the AIADMK government for supporting Raja as the chief of Scouts and Guides. By supporting Raja's nomination, the AIADMK government is trying to push the BJP into the state government," said DMK working president MK Stalin.

With another candidate, Mani, who was a former school education director, also contesting this election, being held after 18 years, school education minister KA Sengottaiyan is asking all teachers and district education officials to vote for Raja, Stalin said in a statement. He pointed out that Raja had recently called on chief minister Edappadi K Palaniswami at the secretariat to discuss his election.

"After trying to saffronise school education curriculum, the BJP is now trying to get into Tamil Nadu through the Bharat Scouts and Guides to sow seeds of communal hatred among the students. The "corrupt" AIADMK is ready to do anything to remain in power with the help of the BJP," he said.
