Showing the confidence to put all his eggs in one basket, DMK president MK Stalin on Tuesday said that there was no scope for a third front in the Seventeenth Lok Sabha. "It doesn't seem to me that there is a chance for that. However, that will be decided only after counting on May 23," Stalin said.

Interestingly, Stalin's reiteration came a day after meeting K Chandrasekhar Rao in Chennai that had fuelled speculation for a non-Congress, non-BJP federal third front government of regional parties at the Centre.

As Stalin's statement seemed a little non-committal and Tamil Nadu BJP unit claimed that disillusionment was setting in the DMK with regards to Congress and feelers have started coming to the BJP, the DMK chief came back to vow that he would "quit politics" if PM Modi and Tamil Nadu BJP chief could prove the claim that he is in touch with the BJP.

"If Modi or Tamilisai (Soundarajan, BJP) prove it I shall quit politics. Will Modi quit politics if he can't prove it," said Stalin strongly rebutting any change in his stand on backing Rahul Gandhi for PM's position.

"DMK (is) determined to oust (PM) Modi and doubly determined to make Rahul PM. Desperate BJP is causing confusion," he said.

Earlier Tamil Nadu's BJP chief said, "Yes, it's true, they are talking through somebody and establishing contact…Stalin holds talks with Rahul on one side, with KCR on the other side and Modi on another side. Everyone knows DMK will change colours."

Stain claimed that his meeting with KCR was nothing but a courtesy call.

"He did not come to form alliances. He came to TN to offer prayers in various temples and on that basis, sought an appointment with me for a courtesy call. That is all," he said dispelling rumours.
