Big blow to JD(U)- BJP combine
RJD candidate Shahnawaz Alam is leading over his nearest JD(U) candidate Murshid Alam by nearly 27,000 votes in Jokihat Assembly seats, according to latest reports.
While Shahnawaz Alam of RJD so far got 57,593 votes, Murshid Alam OF JD (U) polled 30,637 votes. The resignation of JD(U) MLA Sarfaraz Alam, who quit the party earlier this year and got elected on an RJD ticket to the Lok Sabha from Araria, a seat held by his late father Mohammad Taslimuddin, necessitated the by-election. There are nine candidates are in the fray.
The result is likely to be a cause of worry for JD(U)- BJP combination which is currently in power in the state. It comes as a shot in the arm for Tejashwi Yadav who alongside his father Lalu Prasad Yadav is currently entagled in legal soup.
