Jairam Ramesh, known for his wit and humor, met his match in water resources minister Salman Khurshid who compared him to a tiger, only to pull the rug from under him later.

Reacting to Jairam’s description of him and planning commission deputy chairman Montek Singh Ahluwalia as the biggest threat to tigers, Khurshid, who was seated next to Jairam, said Jairam himself is a tiger thanks to his ‘tiger like characteristics.’

Jairam, who was enjoying the attention, was soon disappointed when Khurshid observed that like tigers, he too had a tendency to turn into a ‘man-eater’ when not treated well.

“Like real tigers, this tiger also faces the danger of extinction.. but don’t worry, we have set our own camera traps, we examine pug marks.. [to ensure his well-being,]” he noted, drawing peels of laughter.

Jairam later thanked Khurshid - a great supporter of his in the cabinet - for watching over him and supporting him in his battles 'both rational and irrational.'
