After sealing the skin bank inside Dera Sacha Sauda headquarters in Sirsa for operating without any license, the Haryana government had begun probing into the alleged irregularities in the conduct of medical termination of pregnancies inside the Dera hospital.

Sources in the Health department confirmed that some of the records, including documents that are necessarily required as per MTP Act, were taken into possession after certain irregularities were found.

"Some of the necessary provisions required under the MTP Act were not being adhered to. There were certain documents, including proper details of the patients which were not available with the hospital. The team has taken into possession records from the hospital, which would be examined for further lapses," Deputy Director, Public Relations department, Haryana Satish Mehra told DNA.

The revelation has further raised questions on whether illegal termination of pregnancies was being carried out in the Dera, whose chief, Gurmeet Ram Rahim, was convicted of raping two sadhvis. The two rape victims had told Court that as many 24 sadhvis had left the Dera and they had seen several of them weeping after returning from the Dera Chief in the late night hours.

While the team, led by the Court Commissioner, retired judge A K S Pawar, had begun investigations into the irregularities, DGP Haryana BS Sandhu said police would await the final report before taking action.

"Any irregularities in the hospital are being examined by the Court Commissioner, who was heading the search operation. We are yet to receive the detailed report being prepared by him," said Haryana DGP B S Sandhu, while talking to DNA.

However, the Haryana police have registered a case under the Explosives Act after cartons of explosives were seized from the Dera, which had ben running a firecrackers factory illegally.

"If anything of illegality comes to the fore during the sanitization drive, we will definitely act on it. As far as irregularities in the functioning of the hospital are concerned, we are waiting for the final report from the Health team. We will take necessary action after a medical report," SP Sirsa Ashwain Shenvi told DNA.

The three-day search operation had ended on Sunday.
