'If you have guts, let's face fresh polls,' Dhinakaran dares united AIADMK camp

On a day when the united AIADMK camp announced J Jayalalithaa as 'eternal General Secretary' and revoked the appointment of VK Sasikala from all party positions, her nephew TTV Dhinakaran refuses to call it quits.

Hours after the AIADMK meeting, Dhinakaran reacted sharply to the latest development.

Maintaining that the AIADMK General Council meet should be conducted only with the permission of her aunt Sasikala, Dhinakaran said, “It was not a general council meet. People who have attended are not general council members.”

The leader also dared the EPS-OPS camp to face elections.

“You (EPS-OPS) claim you have support of party workers, so if you have the guts, let us face fresh elections,” he said.

Vowing to bring down the Tamil Nadu government, Dhinakaran said, "You (Chief Minister Palaniswami) and others have no moral right to sit in positions of power that was once wielded by Jayalalithaa. We will send this government home."

Earlier in the day, the AIADMK, in its general council meeting, passed a resolution, according to which jailed party general secretary VK Sasikala stands expelled from the party and the post of the temporary general secretary forfeited.

The resolution further said that the Tamil Nadu Chief Minister, E Palanisamy and his deputy, O Panneerselvam, shall retrieve the party and its symbol.

Other terms of the resolution state that all announcements by TTV Dinakaran stand cancelled.
