High-school students, who see business administration as a viable career, can jump onto the management bandwagon right after Class 12 courtesy GTU’s five-year integrated course in Master of Business Administration (MBA).

Two colleges of Gujarat Technological University (GTU) have already shown interest in conducting this programme, and the varsity is keen on inviting several other colleges as well. The course will come into play from this academic year.

This development comes after All India Committee for Technical Education (AICTE) recently gave its nod to private colleges to conduct integrated courses in management.

As per Akshai Aggarwal, vice-chancellor of GTU, the new course will groom students in better managerial, communication and man-management skills. “In undergraduate studies, some courses aren’t synchronised with pattern of education in MBA programmes. This integrated management course after Class 12 will bridge this gap,” said Aggarwal.

GTU has roped in experts to design curriculum for the integrated five-year management course. A meeting of experts has been convened for this week to decide on the curriculum, informed Aggarwal.

As admission process for BBA has already begun, GTU is mulling a new admission process for students willing to take up the integrated course in management. As per Aggarwal, GTU is considering a separate entrance test for admissions to this course. Details, however, are yet to be decided, he added.
