BJP chief Amit Shah held a meeting of party office-bearers to finalise the agenda and resolutions for its extended national executive meeting in Delhi on Monday.

With the government facing challenges on the economy's front, the key agenda before the meet is how to gear up the states' machinery to implement various schemes and create an atmosphere of trust among voters ahead of the next round of Assembly polls and the 2019 Lok Sabha elections, sources said on Sunday.

The national executive, to be held at the Talkatora Stadium, will be attended by 15 BJP Chief Ministers, six Deputy Chief Ministers, 1,400 MLAs, 85 members of legislative councils, 280 ministers, 336 MPs, besides party functionaries.

The meeting will start with Shah's inaugural speech and, after deliberations on various issues, will conclude with Prime Minister Narendra Modi's address in which he is expected to explain how to counter the anti-government narrative and turn the tables on the Opposition by building a powerful counter-narrative of development.

A political and an economic resolution is set to be passed by the national executive. Sources in the BJP said party Vice President Vinay Sahasrabuddhe and General Secretary Ram Madhav have been asked to prepare the resolutions.

Sources said the economic resolution is likely to mention demonetisation as a "bold decision to curb the menace of corruption" and the passage of the Goods and Services Tax as another feather in PM Modi's cap.

Shah will also take stock of the Deen Dayal Upadhyaya Vistarak Campaign, and explain to delegates how to go about expanding the party that already boasts of being the largest political outfit with more than 11 crore members.
