In his inaugural address at the BJP's national executive meeting, party chief Amit Shah asked rank and file to expand party's base, to reach out to the masses and practice politics of performance, purity and corruption-free governance.

Shah addressed the national executive meeting where Prime Minister Narendra Modi along with his senior cabinet colleagues and two of members of Margdarshak Mandal — veteran BJP leader LK Advani and Murli Manohar Joshi — were also present on the stage.

Hitting out at dynastic politics in his opening remarks, Shah said, "Dynasty or family connections in launching careers in politics is a tradition of the Congress and not of India." Shah also reportedly said the BJP will not only win in the 2019 Lok Sabha elections but also get a mandate greater than the one in the 2014 election.

Congress vice-president Rahul Gandhi during his visit to US last week had said in Berkeley University, that India was running on dynastic politics. Slamming Gandhi for these utterances, union Railway minister Goyal paraphrasing Shah's address said, "BJP has always worked on politics of performance. We are working for the poor. We strongly object to these statements, so does the nation."

Goyal said Shah dealt with a number of steps taken by the government to deal with corruption and problem of black money. "The BJP and its leadership believe in a corruption free India. He recalled decisions taken by the Modi government starting from the SIT, demonetisation, Treaties with Cyprus, Mauritius and Singapore to stop the flow of black money, notification of benami laws, shutting down shell companies among other measures."

Another tough question posed by Shah to the Gandhi was on the alleged charges worth Rs 12 lakh crore during UPA regime, He said Gandhi should answer how development was stalled during his party's government.

Praising Modi's decisive leadership for turning around the Indian economy, Shah reminded how the UPA regime was marked by fiscal deficit was at 4.9 per cent, current account deficit at 5 per cent and GDP at 4.5 per cent.

While Indian Rupee was far down in its value and inflation was in double digits and governance was marked by policy paralysis. "In contrast India under Modi's leadership there has been turnaround of Indian economy. Currently the GDP is at 7 per cent, inflation is at 3 per cent, interest rates have come to down to 6 per cent.

Shah congratulated Prime Minister Modi and his senior cabinet colleagues including Defence Minister, Home Minister and External Affairs Minister for doing great work against terrorism and separatism and specifically praised Modi for solving the Doklam imbroglio through diplomacy without lowering India's prestige.
