Former Maharashtra CM Devendra Fadnavis has expressed the need for an investigation in Sushant Singh Rajput's death case by the central authorities instead of the Mumbai police.
The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leaders in Maharashtra have now jumped into the controversy that has erupted in the case of Sushant Singh Rajput's death.
In the latest development, former state Chief Minister and leader of opposition Devendra Fadnavis has expressed the need for an investigation in the matter by the central authorities instead of the Mumbai police.
Fadnavis took it to microblogging site Twitter on Friday, saying there is a huge public sentiment that the investigation into the Sushant Singh Rajput case should be handed over to the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) but the state government is reluctant to do that.
"There is a huge public sentiment about handing over Sushant Singh Rajput case to CBI but looking at the reluctance of State Government, atleast ED can register an ECIR since misappropriation and money laundering angle has come out," his tweet read.
On the other hand, BJP leader Ashish Shelar has also alleged that the investigation into Sushant Singh's death was not carried out properly and only the names of the suspects are being discussed, they are not being questioned. Shelar said he would meet the state Home Minister Anil Deshmukh on Friday and ask him to hand over the case to the CBI.

On Thursday, the Supreme Court dismissed the plea by a senior lawyer Alka Priya to transfer the probe in from Mumbai Police to CBI.
Recently, Sushant's family lodged a complaint against his alleged girlfriend, Rhea Chakraborty, in Patna. On the basis of this complaint, Riya rushed to the Supreme Court and demanded that the complaint be transferred from Patna to the Mumbai Police.
