Delhi-based software engineer Rajesh Gulati, who allegedly killed his wife Anupama, slashed her body into pieces and hid them in a deep-freezer for nearly two months, had planned the murder for many days, police said here in Dehra Dun today.

Anupama (33) was killed through a systematic planning by her husband at their rented accommodation here on Oct 17, senior superintendent of police (SSP) GS Martolia said, adding, evidences have also suggested that the accused had an extra-martial relationship in Kolkata.

On December 12, Rajesh Gulati (37) was arrested and police found parts of Anupama's body inside a deep-freezer from their residence here following a complaint from her brother SK Pradhan. Gulati was sent to a 14-day judicial remand by a local court on December 17.

"So far all the evidences suggest that Rajesh murdered Anupama through a systematic planning. They have also pointed out that Rajesh frequently used to beat up Anupama. The murder may be a fallout of an extra-marital relationship," he said.

So far, there are no evidences which suggest that Rajesh could have indulged in cannibalisation even as some of Anupama's body parts are missing, Martolia said.

The couple's twin children have also recorded their statement. The accused will tomorrow be produced before a court where his statement will be recorded.

"We will also take court's permission for Rajesh's finger prints," Martolia said.

There are evidences suggesting that Rajesh was having an extra-marital affair last year when he was working in Kolkata.

"We have other evidences like marriage certificates of Rajesh and the woman. We may send our police team to Kolkata to investigate further," Martolia said.

A local court on Wednesday handed over the custody of the twin kids to their maternal uncle.
