A chilling video of a youth confessing of being an informer on gunpoint, apparently shot before he was assassinated, has exposed the terrorists in the troubled South Kashmir region.

Bullet-riddled body of Ishtiyaq Ahmad Wagay, a shopkeeper of Jablipora in Anantnag, was recovered from Shopian on August 8. Police said terrorists had allegedly washed their hands of the assassination and instead blamed security agencies for the killing.

A month later, a 1.39-minute video showing Wagay confessing of being an informer while a suspected terrorist (not in the frame) points AK 47 at him at an undisclosed destination.

"I was forced to become an informer. They did not pay me anything. I have shared information about Talha, Musa bhai, Junaid Kandro and Turab. Now they have asked me to track down Daad," Wagay, dressed in blue Khan Suit, tells the gunmen in pure Kashmiri.

Police said 30-year-old Wagay was abducted by the terrorists before he was shot dead. Wagay's blood-soaked body with multiple bullet wounds was recovered from the Alam Gunj village of south Kashmir's Shopian district.

"What did you gain from being the informer? Aren't we your brothers? For whom we have left home? We have left for Islam. Now are you confessing that you were informer," a terrorist not in the frame is heard telling Wagay.

Deputy Inspector General of Police, South Kashmir Range, SP Pani said the killing reflects that the terrorists are settling their own scores and committing atrocities on the civilians.

"They are fooling the people. They are killing innocent people just to fulfill their agenda. This is absolutely condemnable. This reflects what terrorists are up to," said Pani.

Director General of Police, Jammu and Kashmir, SP Vaid said investigation is on in the video. "We are investigating (the video) to check its veracity," he said.

A spate of civilian killings had rocked south Kashmir last month. Suspected terrorists had killed three persons, including a cable operator, within 24 hours last month.
