Congress deputy leader in Rajya Sabha Anand Sharma countered Prime Minister Narendra Modi's charge that its manifesto was full of lies and said that lies are in the basket of Modi and BJP and they should be punished for the same. He was in the city to launch the Congress' manifesto for the upcoming Lok Sabha polls.

Sharma said Congress is quite capable to deliver all its promises which were mentioned in the manifesto.

"Congress has a good track record ot delivery as the party led government gave Right to Information, Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Act, Food Security Act and the Right to Education. What Modi said in 2014 later they termed it a jumla and those turned out to be the lies for which PM and BJP should be punished,'' he noted.

Sharma led a blistering attack on Modi saying his govt was in "departure lounge" and it cannot further "threaten and mislead" people. He stated Modi considers his political rivals as his personal enemies but Congress does not want to engage in conversation stooping to that level.

Sedition Law

On its promise to scrap sedition law and review AFSPA, Sharma said his party has “zero tolerance against terrorism” and that it was committed to strengthening the national and internal security.
