The Supreme Court was informed on Thursday that the remaining CBSE and ICSE Board examinations for classes X and XII, which were scheduled to be held in July, have been cancelled due to the COVID-19 pandemic. 

Now as per the latest reports, the board is all set to announce class 10, 12 board results by July 15 based on the basis of internal assessment.

The Supreme Court on Friday permitted the Centre and the CBSE to cancel the remaining board examinations due to COVID-19 pandemic and gave a go-ahead to its scheme to award marks to students for the cancelled papers scheduled to be held in July. 

As per the CBSE's assessment scheme, the marks achieved by students in the last three papers of board exams will be considered.

According to PTI, Exam Controller Sanyam Bhardwaj has said that class 12 students will get a chance to sit for optional exams to improve the score. 

A bench of Justices A M Khanwilkar, Dinesh Maheshwari and Sanjiv Khanna permitted the CBSE to issue a notification for the cancellation of the examinations.

Solicitor General Tushar Mehta, appearing for the Centre and the CBSE, said that the assessment scheme will consider marks achieved by students in the last three papers of board exams.

Both CBSE and ICSE told the top court that the results of the Class X and XII board exams can be declared by mid of July.

On Thursday, the Indian Certificate of Secondary Education (ICSE) told the bench that it has also decided to cancel the exam and would broadly follow the government's decision on CBSE exams.
