A Delhi court today extended by 14 days the judicial custody of former Commonwealth Games organising committee chief Suresh Kalmadi's close aide Shekhar M Deorukhkar, arrested for his alleged role in a corruption case relating to the mega sporting event.

"Accused is remanded in judicial custody till April 2," special CBI judge OP Saini said.

Deorukhkar was produced before the special court after the expiry of his judicial custody.

He was arrested from Pune on February 11 in the C'Wealth Games overlays scam in which nearly Rs 600 crore worth of contracts relating to the Games' overlays project are under the scanner of various probe agencies.

The court had earlier dismissed the bail plea of Deorukhkar saying there are "incriminating" evidence against him which establishes that he was a part of the conspiracy.

It had also taken into account the statement of a witness in this case who had deposed that he had paid Rs10 lakh to Deorukhkar as bribe.

The CBI had told the court that the accused was an influential person and it could be judged from the fact that "merely being a guard in Indian Railways, he got himself appointed as a director of C'Wealth Games organising committee, that too as OSD to the chairman".

Overlays works included supply of tents, marquees, pre-fabricated units, portable toilets, containers, security fence, furniture, public display LED boards, floor finishes, material handling equipment, gensets, cabling, UPS, air-conditioners, lighting, civil construction, athletic exercise equipment and grandstands.
