The previous order on lockdown in Bihar was valid till August 16 and new guidelines were expected to be issued on Sunday, but this did not happen.
The Bihar administration on Monday extended the lockdown extension in the state till September 16 in wake of the coronavirus crisis. A notification was issued by the administration in this regard.
''In view of the present situation of COVID-19 in the State of Bihar, in the exercise of the powers, conferred by the MHA by the aforesaid instructions, In continuation of the MHA order, the restrictions imposed issued by this department order wide memo no. 102/1:4.ita. dated 30.7.2020 imposing further restrictions will remain effective till 06.09.2020," the notification from the state home department read.
The state home department had earlier issued a notification saying that the restrictions will remain in force in State, district, sub-divisional and block headquarters and all municipal areas in the state of Bihar with effect from August 1 till August 16 in the wake of the Covid-19 pandemic.
New guidelines were expected to be issued on Sunday, but this did not happen.
In the previous order which was valid till August 16, religious places in Bihar were directed to remain closed and there was a prohibition of any kind of congested religious, political, social or cultural events.
Here is what is allowed during the lockdown and what is not allowed.
1. Air and rail travel allowed to operate.
2. Offices, banks, and other offices would function with 50 per cent strength.
3. Restaurants would not be allowed to operate, except for takeaway and home deliveries.
4. Hospitals will continue to remain functional.
5. Shops and markets allowed to operate subject to restrictions imposed by the district administration.
6. Taxies, auto-rickshaws, etc will be permitted across Bihar.
7. Private vehicles will be allowed across Bihar for permitted activities mentioned in the order.
8. Transportation of goods will be allowed without any hindrance.
9. All government vehicles and private vehicles carrying government officials will be allowed to commute on their office I-cards.
10. All essential service providers will be allowed to commute from home to work.
11. All construction and agriculture-related activities permitted.
12. Movement of individuals will remain strictly prohibited between 10:00 PM to 5:00 AM throughout the State except for essential activities.
1. Shopping malls to remain shut.
2. All transport services will be suspended.
3. All educational, training, research, coaching institutions to remain closed.
4. All places of worship will remain closed for the public. No religious congregation will be permitted, without any exception.
5. No social/political/sports/entertainment/academic/cultural/ religious functions to be allowed.
6. The opening of parks and gymnasiums will not be allowed.
