On the concluding day of his three-day visit to West Bengal, Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) National President Amit Shah said the enthusiasm he had seen during his visit has left no doubt that the people were ready to usher in change and would vote the BJP to power in the next (state) elections.

"After Maharashtra, Haryana, Jharkhand, Kashmir, Assam, Goa, Manipur, Uttarakhand and Uttar Pradesh, our new mission is to win West Bengal. Our new slogan for the mission is 'Ebar Bangla' (It's Bengal Now). The state-sponsored atrocities on the people of Bengal is something that has not been witnessed since Independence. We intend to bring about a change and put Bengal on track to development to bring it at a par with Gujarat, Maharashtra and Haryana," said Shah, addressing booth-level workers of Rajarhat New Town Assembly (booth number 231).

DNA spoke to a few youth in the audience, and most of them could not identify all five pictures of leaders that were on stage — Shyama Prasad Mukherjee, Deendayal Upadhyaya, Narendra Modi, Amit Shah and Dilip Ghosh.

Madhab Roy, a 21-year-old local resident and BJP supporter admitted he could not recognise all the leaders. "Other than Narendra Modi, I only know the state BJP president, but cannot recall his name at the moment. All I know is that he was in the news recently for saying something derogatory about a Nobel Prize winner," he grinned.
