WATCH: Netflix releases dark and intense trailer for 'The Punisher'

Netflix is yet to announce the release date of their next instalment from Marvel's superhero factory - The Punisher. But they have done something to soothe the pains of eagerly waiting fans of the comic book world's one of the greyest characters by releasing a brand new trailer on Wednesday.

In the beginning of the trailer, we see the reason why Frank Castle, as played by Jon Bernthal, becomes The Punisher. Nobody can take it in their stride if your wife and kid are brutally shot in front of you.

Set to Metallica's 'One,' rest of the trailer is awash with darkness, death, and destruction. Very true to the version we first saw in the second season of Marvel's Daredevil. Castle is on the path to discover the truth about the injustice that was afflicted on him and his family and there he uncovers a conspiracy that runs far deeper than New York’s criminal underworld.

Talking about the series to Entertainment Weekly, Bernthal had said that the show will get into as dark and as brutal a place as one has ever seen in the Marvel world.
