Selena Gomez talks about her past relationships, calls them 'cursed'

We have seen the evolution of Selena Gomez over the years, she went from being a child actor to a pop icon just within a few years and in recent times, also a beauty mogul. 

Since she was always in the spotlight, her life was constantly under scrutiny, especially her relationships. Her longest relationship was with Justin Bieber, whom she dated on and off from 2010 to 2018, she also dated the Weeknd in 2017.  Her name was also linked to Nick Jonas and Zedd. 

In a recent interview with Vogue Australia, the 28-year-old singer got candid about her previously unknown details about her past relationships, sharing how she feels like they were all cursed, and revealed the many lessons she learnt during the course.

She stated that she always felt less than in past relationships and never really felt equal to her significant others. “I think most of my experiences in relationships have been cursed, I’ve been way too young to be exposed to certain things when I was in relationships," said Selena.

Selena said that the feelings of inadequacy in her relationships led her on a quest to fully embrace what makes her "rare," a word that stuck out during a writing session with songwriter Nolan Lambroza for her 2020 single that celebrates self-love and individuality.

She further added, "I'm grateful that as I step into twenty-nine, even just two years ago, I was different. It's only gotten better, and that's kind of what people say, you know, when you get older, you feel a bit more confident with who you are. I don't know if that's gonna be every year for me."

On the work front, Selena is set to appear in the Hulu series, 'Only Murders in the Building', and a sequel to her popular 'Transylvania' movie franchise.
