Vijay Deverakonda-Ananya Panday starrer 'Liger' to skip theatrical release? Here's what Telugu star has to say

It was earlier announced that Vijay Deverakonda and Ananya Panday starrer 'Liger' will hit the big screens on September 9, 2021. The film directed by Puri Jagannadh is co-produced by Charmme Kaur and Karan Johar. Now, reports were making the rounds that owing to the coronavirus pandemic, the film is likely to be an OTT release. However, Vijay shut down the reports in a most savage way via his Twitter page.

The actor took to his Twitter page and shared an announcement that read as "Vijay Deverakonda and Puri Jagannadh's 'Liger' received a huge OTT offer of Rs 200 crore for its direct digital release and the satellite rights in all languages. Makers are considering the offer."

To which Vijay captioned, "Too little. I’ll do more in the theatres."

Charmme quote tweeted Vijay's tweet and wrote, "And that's why you are LIGER one and only #LIGER… saaalaaaaaa crossbreed."

In May this year, the makers of 'Liger' were planning to drop the teaser of the film. However, they cancelled the plans and talking about the same, Dharma Productions issued a statement that read as "During these testing times, we hope you all are staying indoors and taking care of yourself and your loved ones. We were all geared up to reveal a power-packed teaser for 'LIGER' on May 9. However, due to the current scenario and environment that our country is facing, we have decided to postpone the same in the hope to share it with the world at a better time for us all."

It further stated, "Having said that, we assure and guarantee that you will witness Vijay Deverakonda in a never seen before avatar and you will not be disappointed."
