You can easily call Vikram one of the most versatile actors in Kollywood today. Be it his role as a bandit who jumped off a cliff into the water in Raavanan or tweaking his entire body to that of a small child in Deiva Thirumagal, he seems to carry off role with ease.
Being the critics’ favourite actor, Vikram is now seen as the most bankable stars in Kollywood right now. The actor, who is currently wrapping up the shoot for Rajapattai, seems elated about the way the film is shaped up.
Directed by Suseenthiran of Vennila Kabadi Kuzhu and Naan Mahan Alla fame, the film has Vikram, Deeksha Seth and legendary actor K Vishwanath in lead roles. Similar to Suseenthiran’s previous films, this one too talks about an issue — the land grabbing crisis in Tamil Nadu.
However, the director, in a recent press meet, informed that the film has an out-and-out commercial approach and presentation. “It’s the first time I am experimenting with an out-and-out commercial film. I am really glad to have cast a versatile actor like Vikram in this film. Unlike his previous film, this one will be on the lines of Dhool, Saamy and Dhill which are more of commercial entertainers,” says Suseenthiran,
Vikram will play a gym instructor in this film, who aims to make it big in the film industry. “His character as Anal Murugan has shaped up really well and Vikram is delighted about it. Around 100 days of shooting is complete, with only few scenes and a song being left. They have highlighted the issue of land grabbing and story revolves around how the protagonist gets involved. It is interesting to learn that the offbeat director has made the film in a commercial manner,” informs a close source.
There is also an item song which is pending in the movie. Though actor Hansika Motwani was approached for the song, she later rejected it. A source informs that it will be Shriya Saran and Reema Sen, who worked with the actor earlier, who will be roped in to perform the item number together.
“They are looking at a November release,” says a source.
