Some classic dance moves are in store for you from the noted choreographer Sandip Soparrkar
Gear up for some classic dance moves with the master choreographer himself, Sandip Soparrkar. This one-day workshop that he will be conducting on September 19 is his first in Bangalore and he’s very excited about the same. “Somewhere in the midst of all the modern dances, the classic ones seem to be getting lost. Hence, I decided to have a workshop on waltz and tango — both classic ballroom dances,” he informs.
And there’s some recall factor too. “Co-incidentally, these dances will be what I choreographed for some Bollywood films — the waltz that Karisma Kapoor did in Zubeida and Aamir Khan in Mangal Pandey — The Rising and the tango that Priyanka Chopra did in Saat Khoon Maaf,” Sandip says, adding, “It’s time to feel like you’ve stepped into their shoes.”
Quiz Sandip on what he expects from Bangalore and he says, “While I choreographed a number for the Mallika Sherawat-Jackie Chan-starrer, The Myth, we had some dancers from the city and I had a fabulous experience with them — their moves were simply mind blowing.” So, is it possible to perfect the form in a few hours? “Definitely not but it’s all about enjoying the experience. What matters is honing the skills first, before mastering it,” he signs off.
