The world has not ended and we are all going to wave goodbye to 2012 and bring in a better and happier 2013. But if you were busy and haven’t charted out a plan to bring in the New Year, fret not. We bring to you a few different ways you can welcome the New Year!

Theme-it-up!
The city is brimming with special theme parties, be it rolling the dice Las Vegas style or sporting a mask and dancing to groovy numbers. Hotel Marine Plaza in town has a Marine Extravanganza 2013 where the party spreads across five decks or places in the hotel. All the five venues will showcase a different cruise deck from a DJ on one to a live band on another. The place is all set with anchors, wheels and bells to make you feel at sea! “We have a masquerade party. There is also a tattoo artist, tarot card reader and many more things to keep them entertained,” says Rahul Malhotra, manager, Time and Again. When you think ‘party’, the city that instantly comes to mind is Las Vegas. The Lalit gets you closer to the city with their theme being Around The World. They have casino tables, multi-cuisine food, liquor and live DJ music.

Rent a boat
What better way to bring in the New Year than to watch the sunrise standing on the deck of a boat in the middle of the sea. Mumbai can be seen from a different perspective, and it can perhaps turn into one of the most memorable experiences on New Years’. Varying from Rs.1000 to 8,000 boat rides start from Gateway of India and allow the passengers to choose their destinations. However, if you don’t mind splurging, you can charter a luxury boat and determine your own itinerary. The boat owners arrange for live band, snacks and beverages on board. However due to the constant security threat to Mumbai through sea, the state excise department has not issued liquor permits to boat owners. An official at Marine Solutions said, “We have a high demand for rented boats on New Year’s since people like to spend the Year end doing something special. However, we keep a tight vigil, keeping security in mind.”

Club Hopping
Planning to club hop on New Year eve is an exciting option. But insufficient planning and too many options can lead to this being a slippery slope. Club enthusiasts could hardly choose a better city to party in regardless of the time of year. Almost all New Years Eve events 2013 in Mumbai cater to adults who are in the mood to party. New Year’s Eve events in Mumbai offer a wide range of tastes and preferences. You can choose an all-inclusive party to focus your night around or party at the hippest clubs like AER Lounge, Ghost, Wink and F Lounge, ranging from Rs 3500 to 9500 (for couples). Dancing to groovy music and sipping on high-end liquor with the best service in town and a friendly atmosphere is the best way to usher in the New Year.

Escape the city
If you are the kinds who want to watch the New Year’s sun rise from a serene hill top or a quiet beach, then pack your bags and head to a few destinations we’ve picked for you. Daman, just four hours away from Mumbai, is a wonderful seaside getaway and lets you escape into the bylanes of history with its forts, lighthouses and churches and of course duty free liquor. Dapoli, also known as Mini Mahabaleshwar, is for those who want to be closer to nature. With beaches, forts and an untouched scenery, most hotels offer farm stays and also tree houses. Bhogawe beach in Konkan is where Konkan Crown is offering its guests everything from laavni performances, magic shows to scuba diving. Sindhudurg is a yet to be explored tourist destination.
